3 Policies and Procedures

The full OSU student employee manual can be found below.  Please do take some time to review this manual and refer to it if you have additional questions.

Asking Questions

Please feel free to ask questions at any time! We prefer slow and accurate over fast and inaccurate. Mistakes can turn into a more time consuming problem than simply taking the time to double check your work.

If you don’t know how to do something, don’t be afraid to ask. There is A LOT of information to take in as you start and everyone here understands that.

  • Ask your supervisor if you have a question, We are always happy to help you learn a new task or to clarify a task.  Come by in person, use e-mail
  • Ask people around you, most of the students have been here a few months (or years!) and probably have had a similar question in the past.

If the person next to you has headphones on and you need to ask them a question, you can try to get their attention by waving your hand, saying their name, and/or sending them a message on Slack.

Respect and Diversity

You’ll remember part of the position description was “commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity,” which is a broad statement. It is important to the Division of Educational Ventures that everyone be respectful and inclusive of others. Please be sensitive to other walks of life and differing viewpoints and backgrounds. We ask that your language, attitude, and actions promote, enhance, and respect diversity while you are at work.

If you are unsure what this looks like, or are unsure if something you want to say or do is consistent with this practice, please talk to your supervisor.
