Footnotes vs. endnotes

In Pressbooks, you can format your citations as footnotes or endnotes. Footnotes will appear at the bottom of the page and can be formatted in whichever style you prefer (MLA, APA, Chicago, or other). If you are using a special format, e.g., from a specific journal or legal formatting, please provide the OERU with samples of how works should be formatted. Please note that you must provide the citation information for all your sources. OERU will provide you with an image tracking sheet for images and other media to help you keep track.

Footnotes^[1] are embedded in the text. When someone views the text, the footnote will appear at the bottom of the page with a superscript number in your text. When printing the text, the footnotes can be changed to endnotes.

In your manuscript, you can use the built-in Microsoft citation formatting tool or a bibliographic citation management tool like Zotero or Endnote.
