Headings and subheadings
Headings and subheadings
On each page, which is effectively a subsection of the main “Chapters” of the handbook (e.g. Introduction, Find OER, Create OER, etc) each new heading should start with using a level 2 heading. Subsequent subheadings on the page use level 3, 4, etc. as needed. Please do not use size to make your font larger or smaller.
- For all Chapter titles, use Heading 1
- For all Headings, use Headings 2 through 5, nested appropriately
If you need to use additional levels, please consult with the OER Unit.
Paragraphs and line spacing
There must always be text between headings. In other words, you cannot have a Heading followed immediately by another Heading. There must be text in between. Please leave a space between the heading and the text of the paragraph.
Section Breaks
Please do not use section breaks between chapters. Just a new heading 1 will suffice.
Table of contents
Please use the built-in headings (H1, H2) in Word to generate your table of contents. This will also create the table of contents in PressBooks and in your .docx file.
